Enterprise and Innovation Office (EIO)

All new intellectual property (IP) emerging from the University of Leeds should be registered with the University's Enterprise and Innovation Office (EIO).

The Enterprise and Innovation Office (EIO) will help you to assess and implement the various protection options open to you. The Enterprise and Innovation Office (EIO) also acts as the University's main interface with Techtran and works with Techtran throughout the commercialisation process.

Initial Techtran Review

Once we have been notified of new intellectual property that is available for commercialisation, the Techtran team will review it with the aim of understanding the commercial potential of the opportunity. During this process the Techtran team will meet with you, talk to potential customers and assess the level of competition in the marketplace.

Commercialisation

Techtran will formally take on opportunities with clear commercial potential with the aim of bringing them to market. The precise steps taken during this next phase will vary significantly depending on the type of opportunity and whether a licensing or spin out strategy is being pursued.
